
Issue 16 – Jul|Aug|Sept 2021 – GET MOTIVATED: Our theme for this midyear issue is GET MOTIVATED! It features a variety of articles that provide some type of coaching tip, inspirational insight, or general MOTIVATION to refocus and re-energize women for the second half of 2021! The GET MOTIVATED articles may relate to a variety of fields and areas of passion or expertise, such as: mindset, motherhood, marriage, nutrition, health & wellness, work/life balance, mental health, and business ownership, just to name a few; all topics aimed at providing women with motivation in different areas of their lives!
Issue 15 – Apr|May|Jun 2021 – THE IMPACTS OF FOSTER CARE: With more than 440,000 U.S. children in Foster Care, and an average of only 200,000 licensed foster homes, 30-60% of which drop out each year, there’s no denying that the need for loving foster families is great. Our Community Impact Theme for our April|May|June 2021 issue of IHBM-ND is to create conversation and understanding around the undeniable impacts of Foster Care and the increasing need for loving Foster Families (and Forever Families for the 122,000 foster youth waiting to be adopted) by sharing stories about Foster Care (and Adoption) from a variety of perspectives.* (*Statistics are based on an ever-changing average.)
Issue 14 – Jan|Feb|Mar 2021 – NEW YEAR NEW YOU: Our Community Impact Theme for our January|February|March 2021 issue of IHBM-ND is to create conversation and understanding around the overall importance of the many different areas of Women’s Health and Wellness. From topics such as, but not limited to, Heart Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, Fitness, Lifestyle Choices, and Adjusting to a New Normal, our goal is to provide hope, inspiration, encouragement, and RESOURCES regarding Women’s Health and Wellness, in an effort to help every woman be her best self in 2021!
Issue 13 – Oct|Nov|Dec 2020 – Our Community Impact Theme for our October|November|December 2020 issue of IHBM-ND is to create conversation and understanding around a variety of groups, organizations, initiatives, and businesses throughout North Dakota that 1) have been started by women, 2) are currently lead by women, and/or 3) provide services that serve women and/or families in our communities. As we head into the season of Thanksgiving, we want to bring awareness to different ways to give thanks, give back, and Make an Impact this Holiday Season.
Issue 12 – Jul|Aug|Sept 2020 – Our Community Impact Theme for our July|August|September 2020 issue of IHBM-ND is to create conversation and understanding around the impacts that have been felt by our families and community members due to COVID-19, while recognizing and celebrating our EVERYDAY HEROES, the true sacrifices that many of them have had to make, and/or the unique contributions that they’ve made to our communities during this time.
Issue 11 – Apr|May|Jun 2020 – THE IMPACTS OF FOSTER CARE: May is National Foster Care Month! Our Community Impact Theme (CIT) for our upcoming April|May|June 2020 issue of IHBM-North Dakota is to focus on creating conversation and understanding around the undeniable impacts of Foster Care and the increasing need for loving Foster Families (and Adoptive Families). By doing so, our hopes are to 1) eliminate misconceptions and create realistic expectations about the Foster Care (Adoption) experience, 2) provide resources and support outlets for current and prospective Foster (Adoptive) Families, and ultimately, 3) encourage families to make an impact in the life of a child and be a Foster.
Issue 10 – Jan|Feb|Mar 2020 – NEW YEAR NEW YOU: Our Community Impact Theme (CIT) for our January|February|March 2020 issue of IHBM-ND is to create conversation and understanding around the overall importance of the many different areas of Women’s Health and Wellness. From topics such as, but not limited to, Heart Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, Fitness, Lifestyle Choices, Reproduction, Work-Life Balance, and even a woman’s Medical Changes, our goal is to provide hope, inspiration, encouragement, and RESOURCES regarding Women’s Health and Wellness, in an effort to help every woman be her best self in 2020!
Issue 9 – Oct|Nov|Dec 2019 – Our Community Impact Theme for this issue focuses on creating conversation and understanding around the impacts of being a CAREGIVER. Caregivers are all around us. From those who care for an aging parent, to those who care for their child or spouse with a chronic illness or even children in child care or in the foster care system, caregivers are needed in so many areas of life, which is why we want to dedicate this issue to supporting and celebrating them. By starting the conversation around this topic, we hope to better support one another and to provide hope, inspiration, encouragement, and RESOURCES to women, families, and caregivers everywhere. The issue includes our 2 cover articles, 4 feature articles, 4 support articles, 4 Signature Sections, and tons of additional materials all about Caregiving!
Issue 8 – Jul|Aug|Sept 2019 – Our Community Impact Theme for this issue (similar to IHBM South Dakota Issue 1) is to create conversation and under- standing around 1) the impacts that Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons has on young ladies, women, their families, and our communities, and 2) topics that Girl Scout members care about, while supporting their efforts to Discover, Connect, and Take Action, in an effort to make the world (and our state) a better place! The issue includes our 2 cover articles, 2 feature articles, 4 mini feature articles, 1 STEM Partnership article, 4 Signature Sections, and tons of additional materials all about Girl Scouts!
Issue 7 – Apr|May|Jun 2019 – Our Community Impact Theme for this issue is to create conversation and understanding around the impacts of Heart Disease and Stroke on North Dakota women, their families, and our communities, while providing hope, inspiration, encouragement, and resources to those who have been impacted by the disease. Our signature Double Covers feature Jessica Pergande, who lost her mother to Heart Disease, as well as Sigrid Strebe, who is a Heart Attack Survivor. The issue also includes 2 additional Feature Stories, 4 Mini Feature Stories, 3 Signature Sections, and a variety of materials regarding Heart Health!
Issue 6 – Jan|Feb|Mar 2019 – Our Community Impact Theme for this issue is to create conversation and understanding around the impacts of Cancer on North Dakota women, their families, and our communities, while providing hope, inspiration, encouragement, and resources to those who have been impacted by the disease. With February being National Cancer Prevention Month and February 4th being World Cancer Day, we’d like to use this time to bring awareness to this topic. Our signature Double Covers feature Brittany Dvorak, an Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Cancer Survivor, as well as Andrea Solberg and her son, Landon, who is a Pediatric Brain Cancer Survivor. The issue is packed with powerful stories from 13 women and their families! Plus, four cancer-related Service Organizations!
Issue 5 – Oct|Nov|Dec 2018 – Our Community Impact Theme for this issue is to create conversation and understanding around the impact that (In)fertility, Adoption, and Foster Care has on North Dakota women, their families, and our communities. Check-out our cross-over articles, which include our Cover Stories featuring Ashley Rae Klinger and Kristi Larson, as well as our Insider Cover Stories featuring Peggy Harter and Allison Harmon.
Issue 4 – Jul|Aug|Sept 2018 – Community Impact Theme: Understanding the Impacts of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) Issue Overview: Throughout this issue, you’ll notice an overall Patriotic theme. Not only are we celebrating North Dakota native and Miss America 2018 Cara Mund and World War II Veteran Anna Walker as our Cover Stories, but we are celebrating and honoring women who serve or have served our state in a variety of capacities, including in the Military and in Law Enforcement. Notice their articles titled In Her Honor. Although not every article will touch on it, our Community Impact Theme for this issue is the impact that PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) has had on North Dakota women, their families, and our communities. Our Insider Cover Stories, featuring Lindsay Suko and Lisa Rakowski, are two of those stories. As always, you’ll also find our signature articles, such as ‘Generation to Generation’ and ‘Up and Comer’ sprinkled throughout the issue, including the debut of our new signature ‘Her Business’ article.
