Our Community Impact Theme for the upcoming April|May|June 2021 is all about Foster Care, as May is National Foster Care Awareness Month. However, there will also be stories that relate to Adoption and Kinship Care, as well as Infertility, as April 18th-24th is National Infertility Awareness Week.
With more than 437,000 U.S. children in Foster Care, and an average of only 200,000 licensed foster homes, 30-60% of which drop out each year, there’s no denying that the need for loving foster families is great. Our focus for this issue is to create conversation and understanding around the undeniable impacts of Foster Care and the increasing need for loving Foster Families by sharing stories about Foster Care (and Adoption and Kinship Care) from a variety of perspectives. By doing so, our hopes are to 1) eliminate misconceptions and create realistic expectations about the Foster Care experience, 2) provide support outlets for current Foster Families, and ultimately, 3) encourage families to make an impact in the life of a child and BE A FOSTER.
If you would like to share YOUR story, if you know of a woman or young lady who we should feature, or if you happen to be a group, organization, or institution who would like to contribute to an upcoming issue, PLEASE connect with us today at firstname.lastname@example.org.
